    Modern Jesmond

    In the 21st Century, Jesmond can be described as both a thriving community and a "leafy suburb".   It is within easy reach of the City centre, by 'bus and Metro.

    The main shopping centre is Acorn Road and St. Georges Terrace though there are also a number of smaller shopping centres in Clayton Road and Brentwood Avenue.   All together, they provide a wide range of goods and services.

    For the hungry, there is a large number of restatuarants, snack and coffee bars, the former offereing an extensive choice in cuisine.

    There is also an extensive number of hotels, bars and public houses.

    The area is predominantly residential and is a popular with students from the Universities.
